Guatemalan Dinner Update

The Annual Guatemalan Dinner was held on April 28th at First Church in Oberlin.  Thanks to an enthusiastic capacity crowd, good food and a wild dessert auction over $2000 was raised for SEPA projects.

Thanks to everyone!!!!

Accompanier News

Viviana Gentry has completed her 6 month tour of duty in Guatemala and has returned stateside.  Plans are currently being made to welcome her back to Oberlin where she will be pleased to discuss her recent experience with interested supporters.  Look for further information in the next few months.  If you didn't yet read Viviana's last summary of her experiences, click here.

Erik Woodward, a 2011 graduate of the University of Arizona, will be the next accompanier sponsored by SEPA.  Erik has spent time in Guatemala previously, is comfortable with Spanish, and is looking forward to his accompaniment term that begins in July.

Farmers Market News

Hopefully attending the Saturday Farmers Market in Oberlin is already part of your weekly routine.  Everyone is excited about the enthusiastic opening response, the new vendors, and the new market managers!

Don't forget to stop by SEPA's booth to purchase Guatemalan coffee, seasonal fruits and veggies, homemade baked goods, and a variety of handmade quilts and Guatemalan textiles.

SEPA could use your help on Saturday mornings.  Email Mary Anne Cunningham if you are able to work a Farmers Market shift for SEPA. (9-11am or 11am-1pm)

All fresh items are donated to the SEPA booth.  If you have a surplus of fresh organic garden produce, please consider donating some to SEPA.  Email Barbara Fuchsman with your information.

 Funding Updates

SEPA recently received a very generous $1500 donation that will be used to fund scholarships for three Copal AA students who plan to attend high school during the upcoming school year.  Providing scholarships for Copal AA students has been an unmet goal of SEPA until now.

SEPA also received word that it has been awarded a Father F. Fallon 2012 Honorable Mention Award from Cleveland Catholic Charities.  These awards are given to groups dedicated to social justice.  The award comes with a $100 grant.
